did you know squidward's korean name is 징징 (jingjing)?!

I found that out from one of the groups in my 1-1 class. They made a high school based on this character, Jingjing, and then were insistent that they keep that name even when I informed them of his original name, Squidward. For those of you who don't know Squidward,
He is Spongebob and Patrick's grumpy neighbor. The students described him to me by pantomiming poking his giant nose, which makes a honking noise when he laughs. One of the rules of their school is that you must poke the mascot (Squidward)'s nose 10 times every day.

Some more funny (and horrifying) rules from other schools:
If you are a girl and your weight is over 45 kg, get out. (this included some girls in that group, which I don't understand.) If you are a boy and your height is under 180 cm, get out.
You must have boyfriend or girlfriend.
You must wear make-up.
Free hairstyle! (every girl wants this, because in Korean high schools they aren't allowed to have perms.)

In other news, I'll be playing with another orchestra in about a month. My teacher arranged for me to play with the Daegu Chamber Orchestra, which performs on Dec. 14 and rehearses every Saturday (and some Fridays) before that! So that means I'll be busy every weekend until it's time to go home on Dec. 22. I'm really glad. I'm also excited because the main piece on the program is a Serenade for Strings by Josef Suk that I played in my junior year at All-State Conference! Crazy! When he first told me the name of the piece, I didn't recognize it, but then when I looked at the music, I had the sudden realization that I'd played the second violin part before. We're also playing the Bartok Roumanian Folk Dance, which I've played before in an orchestra and solo. The last piece is a Devienne Flute Concerto, with which I'm not familiar, but it doesn't seem that difficult of a part. All in all, it should be more of a challenge than the last concert, considering all the hours I'll be putting in. But it should also be really rewarding and fun! i'm looking forward to it.

More to come...
