good morning

The AC turned itself off during the night, as per usual. oh well.

I have been very busy/hot these past few days. Korean summers are very humid. Also I have four hours of Korean language class every morning. Yesterday we went over the alphabet and correct pronunciation, and then moved on to some conversation: I can now ask someone's name and job, and say "pleased to meet you." Then we had a long cultural workshop in the afternoon, and got a visit from the Korean-American Educational Commission staff after that. Mrs. Shim, the executive director, was a great speaker and a very interesting character. She's the first Korean to be the director since the first one about 50 years ago, and the first woman. She's also worked in the office already for 30 years. As one of my friends Jamie described her, "she's a badass!"
